Did you know that we offer massage therapy at our clinic? Besides feeling fantastic, there are a load of rehab benefits that massage therapy can provide. If you are looking to speed-up recovery from an injury, using an interdisciplinary rehab team can be highly beneficial. Massage therapy is a great modality that can be used alongside other treatments such as physiotherapy. In fact, massage therapy and physiotherapy can be beneficial to one another when used in conjunction for rehab. Massage therapy can help release tight or guarded tissue, improve range of motion, and reduce inflammation. This allows physiotherapists to progress treatment faster as restrictions are reduced.
Your massage therapist will customize your treatment and experience to your needs and goals, whether that be relaxation, sport-specific therapy, injury rehab and more. Below is an explanation of different types of massages, and the techniques and modalities that our massage therapists may use during treatment depending on your needs and goals. Swedish Massage Therapy
A gentle, full-body massage therapy that is ideal for clients who are new to massage therapy, are sensitive to touch, have a lot of tension, or simply want to relax. Swedish Massage Therapy uses a combination of kneading, long and flowing strokes, passive joint movement, and deep circular motions to aid in full-body relaxation.
Deep Tissue Massage Therapy
This type of massage therapy can be used alone or in conjunction with Swedish Massage to help reduce chronic pain by relieving tension. Deep Tissue Massage Therapy uses slower strokes with deeper pressure to relieve tension from the deepest layers of muscles and connective tissue.
